Guest Speakers
Shawn Graaff

Shawn Graaff is an ex-pat American that has been waving a digital wand in Africa for 3 years. Hailing from classics libraries and American academia she has converted her education and expertise in Information Architecture and Archival Conservation to Digital Management, Content Strategy, Social Media Marketing and more. Shawn is currently the Online Content and Social Media Manager at MiX Telematics International where her passion for mobile development and all things digital make her perfectly suited to be in the ICT community here in South Africa and abroad. Did we mention that Shawn graduated from Florida State University with the Magna Cum Laude distinction for three seperate degrees in Philosophy, Religion, and Art History?

Anna Burkey

Anna Burkey is a consultant, producer and literary ninja: she uses stories to communicate creative ideas, plans like crazy and makes those ideas a reality. Anna works across the creative arts, but she’s particularly fond of books and reading. Her artistic roots lie in Edinburgh, the world’s largest festival city, and she’s fascinated by the opportunities of the digital sphere, regularly developing events that cross the divide between the online realm and the physical space. Anna is in Cape Town as a Fellow of Creative Scotland’s inaugural International Creative Entrepreneurs programme. She’s scoping the creative scene, building links and contacts, and was recently hosted at Design Indaba.

Venue

The Wild Fig restaurant brings that warm country feeling directly to our doorsteps in Cape Town. The restaurant is located on a portion of the Valkenberg Estate and is situated in a fairly new building that was built as a part of the restoration of the Valkenberg Manor House. The Wild Fig bar is built in the original barn which is a National Monument. The venue leaves its guests with warmth and comfort and makes them a part of a great piece of history. A crackling fire in Winter and an outdoor garden lunch in Summer makes The Wild Fig a perfect venue all year round.
